Chrissy Holbrook, Band Director, Daniel Middle School, Marietta, GA
Steven's remarkable depth of experience makes him a versatile performer and a pleasure with which to work in both a brass quintet setting and a concert band setting. His pleasant demeanor and high level of personal organization complete the package. This guy is the real deal!
Mr. Bontempi is a talented, dedicated professional instructor and musician who combines a love of music with a desire to help others who want to achieve their highest musical potential. That passion shows in all he does! With over thirty-five years of playing experience, Mr. Bontempi is adept at working with anyone at any skill level -- beginner through advanced.
My daughter has been taking tuba lessons from Mr. Bontempi for almost eighteen months. She has really enjoyed the lessons and has improved greatly. I've had the opportunity to be present at many lessons, and appreciate how patient and encouraging he is. From the beginning, Mr. Bontempi has been very relatable, giving examples geared toward her age. He is incredibly positive and tries to boost my daughter's confidence, but has called her out twice for not practicing. He makes the lessons fun and has introduced new music for practice. As a result of his lessons, my daughter advanced to the second level of All-State auditions and was chosen as a member of Cobb County Honor Band as a seventh grader. I'm very thankful that Mr. Bontempi was recommended to us and I highly recommend him as a tuba teacher for all ages.

I have been associated musically and personally with tubist, Steven Bontempi, since 1999. He is an extremely talented musician and an affable person who is very dependable and also dedicated to the development of good tuba playing in the high schools and middle schools in Metro Atlanta. He was a private teacher for me at Lassiter for my last several years. During that time. Steven taught 90% of my tuba students who always made significant progress. He is very professional and develops great rapport with students, band directors and parents alike. He was always available to us for sectionals, master classes, symposiums and private instruction. He developed several All-State band members including first chair. Many of his private students have been chosen for the Governor's Honors Program, performed well in solo and ensemble settings, been selected to youth bands and orchestras and usually sit in the upper chairs for district honor bands. He has been a tremendous asset to the Lassiter Band Program, where thanks to Steven, good tuba has become a "way of life."
Let's start with a conversation. Let's discuss what musical training you've already had and your goals -- whether they're to turn pro or just enjoy music for the rest of your life. If it is a college, all-state or ensemble audition, we can develop a plan to help get you there.

Steven Bontempi is an excellent Tuba instructor. His pedagogy, professionalism, and experience lead to fantastic results in developing and advancing students. Not only is he a fabulous tubist, he is also an excellent role model. He has my highest recommendation and respect.

As a student of Mr. Bontempi, I feel I have gained an immense amount of knowledge from his teachings. He has been my personal mentor and instructor for three full years now and I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with him on a regular basis. Mr. Bontempi's wisdom, generosity and teaching skills are just part of his strong foundation for education, and they are three of the things that help me enjoy making music so greatly.
One of my favorite things about Mr. Bontempi is the bond that he is able to build with his students. He is not just a man that comes to teach me how to play the tuba; he is a role model to me and an example of hard work being paid off. He is able to keep a strong, professional attitude while also being relatable on a personal level, making it easier for me to open up both verbally and in my playing.
In the past three years that I have studied with Mr. Bontempi, I have placed twice in the All State Band as both principal and second chair. Mr. Bontempi is a great help to me and is always willing to lead me anywhere I want to go, making my life much easier. Without his help, I would be far from the player, student, and man that I am today.

Mr. Bontempi taught sectionals for our tuba players at our school. Our students loved having him come! They got special instruction targeted exclusively for their instrument resulting in accelerated and enhanced learning and it also provided a unique opportunity for our students to bond and enjoy band in a different setting.
We hold ourselves to a standard that's higher than anyone else in the industry. Put us to the test, and you'll see.
Simply put, our mission is devoted to our students -- making the most of their musical talent and helping them achieve their goals.
Alfred Watkins, Music Director, Cobb Wind Symphony; Music Director (retired), Lassiter High School, Marietta, GA
Steven Bontempi has worked our instrument test drive for the past couple of years. When he works for us, he demonstrates a high level of professionalism, enthusiasm, and excitement. He has a great rapport with our students, and during the test drive he has helped them feel extremely comfortable and excited about choosing to play the tuba. One year, he helped us recruit 10 beginning tuba players! I look forward to his ongoing relationship with our band program and our students.
